  • Have your children memorize the home address and number
  • Explain to your children who people they can trust are
  • Let your children hunderstand that when they feel they are in danger, they can seek help from a law inforcement representative
  • Teach them that if they feel unsafe and there are no law enforcement officers nearby, they must go into a shop, ask for help and call home immediately
  • Beware of the internet: put security blocks to prevent your children from encountering dangerous virtual encounters or inappropriate sites
  • The most important advices of all i to SPEAK and LISTEN! Be sincere and open with your children. Make sure they feel confortable telling you everything without risking being judjed harshly or scolded
  • Make your children never feel dimished. Their problems may seem small to adults but they may be big for them. Listen to them and show interest and hunderstanding. In this way they will feel free to confide you beautyfull and bad experiences
  • Recommend them never to go around alone: it is always good to be accompanied by a friend or a trusted adult.
  • Make sure they tell you if the schedules for their release change
  • Get to know their friend and families and make sure you have their contact details.
  • Explain to your children not to listen to unknown people, even if they are asking for help. Adults aks for help from adults, not children.
